Awareness Camp for Implementation of Craft Handloom Village Held in Moirang

An awareness camp for the implementation of Craft Handloom Village was successfully held in Moirang on 10th October 2022. The event was organized by the Government of Manipur in collaboration with the Handlooms and Textiles Department.

The camp aimed to create awareness and educate the local weavers and artisans about the benefits and opportunities available under the Craft Handloom Village scheme. The Hon’ble MLA of Moirang A/C, Shri T. Shanti Singh, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Shri K. Lamlee Kamei, Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Manipur, delivered a keynote address highlighting the objectives and key features of the Craft Handloom Village scheme. He emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the traditional handloom and handicrafts of Manipur.

Shri B. Barua from the Weaver Service Centre also gave a presentation on various training programs and skill development initiatives that will be conducted under the Craft Handloom Village scheme. He encouraged the weavers and artisans to actively participate in these programs to enhance their skills and improve the quality of their products.

E. Jeeten, Joint Director of Handlooms, spoke about the financial assistance and subsidies that will be provided to the weavers and artisans under the scheme. He explained the application process and eligibility criteria for availing these benefits.

The camp received an overwhelming response from the local weavers and artisans of Moirang. They expressed their gratitude towards the government for launching such a beneficial scheme and pledged their support and participation in its successful implementation.
